Playing with Text

STEP 1: Alignment #1

Try adjusting the alignment of your title. Make your title center-aligned. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Select your title's text.
  2. Click the paragraph tools on the right side. If you don't see it as an option, go to Window > Paragraph to see it.
  3. Click on the Center-Align tool.

STEP 2: Alignment #2

Try adjusting the alignment of your captions. For practice, you'll change the captions on the left page to be right-aligned, so they pull inward, towards the gutter. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Select all the text in one of your caption boxes on your left page.
  2. Click the paragraph tools on the right side. If you don't see it as an option, go to Window > Paragraph to see it.
  3. Click on the Right-Align tool.
  4. Repeat these steps for each of your caption boxes on the left page.

STEP 3: Drop Cap

For this step, you'll add a drop cap at the beginning of your body copy section. This will add a larger first letter to the story. Here's how:

  1. Select...
  2. Look for the drop cap tool on the top of the screen. .....

STEP 4: Kerning

Try adjusting the kerning of your title! Sometimes, letters look better spaced out or pulled tighter together for titles. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Select the text in your title.
  2. Click the paragraph tools on the right side. If you don't see it as an option, go to Window > Paragraph to see it.
